League Opener

It's more than four months since we beat Heath in that tremendous play-off game and this week we claim our prize - our first game back in North One East when we travel to Morley.

It's a league we know well as a club. But it will be new to many of the lads who wear our new strip this season as we reap the benefits of our Academy.

Quite a few have already made their first team debuts in the three warm up games, and now four of them will make their first league appearances at Scatcherd Lane this week.

Those pre-season games could hardly have been better preparation for a season in a higher league.

Wins at Northern and Westoe  are never easily achieved, while the defeat by Consett's first team was a baptism of fire for a side mainly consisting of up and coming players.

Last season we used 33 players in our push for promotion - strength in depth will once again be the key to success for both the Firsts and the Stags.

If you want to join the players on the coach to Morley please turn up at the club at Noon. (We are expecting to be back to watch Hartlepool United on the telly -kick off at 7.30.)

The RFU has severely cut back travel subsidies this year. So we are hoping as many supporters as possible can join us and contribute a tenner each to the travelling costs.
