Classic Encounter

Brinkburn's first ever Classic Car Show proved a major success for both the organisers and the club ..

West legend Mark Baggs (still reeling after son Jordan signed for Rovers) organised the event on behalf of the North East Classic Car club, and promptly booked in a second event for June 2019.

More than 100 vehicles of various vintage turned up with almost 1,000 visitors during the day.

The club benefitted from the admission charge and from the bbq, with a couple of dozen club members, coaches and players doing a tremendous job in making sure everything ran smoothly.

Graeme Scott was unmovable on the front gate, and managed to welcome and chat to Russian and Chinese visitors in their own tongue .. if he can speak "pitmatic" he can do the job at home games next season.

Fittingly, it later emerged that the MGB GT, which was judged the best restored car in the show had a tremendous West connection.

It was previosuly owned by former player Ian Grieveson who restored it in a garage owned by his dad Barry - player, coach and leading committee man and supporter until he passed away in France last year.
