The Dart and The Deer
 by Roland (and Susanne)
“You know it’s exactly 8 years ago today that we met.” Susanne said to me.
“Yes, that’s why I chose to come here today,” I replied.
“I’m not sure I believe that” she replied
“Well maybe not consciously but some instinctive part of me choose to be here today.” I protested, even though it sounded a bit lame even to my own ears. more> |
Following the Golden Thread
 by Ya'Acov
Happy Summer Solstice! I love this time of year with its wall-to-wall ceremonies celebrating the presence of the summer light and a time of full-on growth. This time last year, I was just back from visiting the Grandmothers of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers in South Dakota. On the way home, I managed to get myself arrested for speeding. I’d been offered an upgrade at the airport from an economy compact rental car to a shiny blue mustang convertible and I just couldn’t resist. I know my father would have loved driving that car and as I drove through the endless sweeping Black Hills, with the wind blowing across my shiny head, I felt a surge of happiness and freedom and I sent my father a prayer: “This one’s for you dad!” more> |
RESONANCE
 by Susannah
Why is song and the drum central to every shamanic path I know of? Why is music so central to our lives in the west, whether or not we open our mouths and sing ourselves? Why is singing solo such a big deal for so many of us?
When I dance I feel visible. When I sing I feel naked. There is no hiding. This is the power of the voice. It connects our inner world with the outer in a totally direct and clear way. To let go and really sing I need to have come to a place in which I can reveal who I am, in all my strength, beauty and vulnerability, my wounds and fears, my love and my pain. more> |
HOME IS WHERE MY HEART IS
A dancing journey through the old year
by Edith Sneha Ziegler
As 2007 was nearing its end, I felt a longing to have a really good look at everything that had happened to me during the past 12 months, to reap the benefits of what had passed, learn from my experiences, so I could greet the New Year invigorated, firmly rooted and steeped in my visions. It was already the second time that I have enrolled in the Returning Home workshop with Susannah & Ya’Acov at the Waldhaus in Switzerland and I am still drawing upon the experiences from this multi-facetted dance ritual. more> |
Vision Quest - June 2008
By Eline Kieft
In the second week of June, 33 inspiring people came together, for the final module in what became a 2-year cycle in Ritual, with Ya'Acov, Sue and Hege. Seeing many faces of each other, sharing food, laughter, pain and sometimes the hot tub J, allowed us to drop deeply into ourselves, into our strengths and weaknesses, into our Dreams and discovering our magical skills to manifest. I’d like to share some of my experiences during the course and the Vision Quest as powerful gateway ceremony. more> |
Trying to succeed at articulating the connections…
This month's winner of £100 School of Movement Medicine workshop voucher
by Vicky Gaughan
What happens inside my body is as much to do with my MM practice as any movement I make with my body. As a Massage Therapist and trainer of many years, with insight into our beautiful internal physical structures, I find myself often reflecting on this during my time on the dance floor. It also occurs to me that what happens off the dance floor has as much to do with my MM practice as what happens within me when I’m moving too. For example, when the wind moves the leaves on the branches of the trees, the wind also at the same time, moves my blood around my vessels. more> |
The Land of the Midnight Sun
 A trip to Shamanic Lapland
by Dawn Morgan, Shapeshift Dance
“Home again after our journey North, the sun went down and we welcomed the night. As we eased our way into sleep, we were enfolded by the gentle velvet of an English evening having not seen the night for over a week we appreciated the gift of darkness.”
"The time has come to call out all the people from the four different cardinal directions and bring together the representatives of different indigenous people and cultures. So that we are able to use the old knowledge and wisdom to find new solutions, following the indigenious peoples view of life, myths and prophesies, and to develop survival strategies, fit for todays world, for the future of humanity and earth."

This is Plan-it Earth
 (Environmental Education Project)
by Rachel Smart Knight
Four years ago Rachel and David Smart Knight they took their first sustainable living steps, and together with a friend, Ian, purchased a farmhouse on the outskirts of the village of Sancreed, in the heart of West Cornwall. With seven and a half acres of land, they hoped to be able to grow their own produce, encourage others to use, connect to and benefit from the land, and through low-impact living, reduce their own personal carbon footprints as much as practicable. more> |
AN INVITATION TO HAVE YOUR LIFE BEAUTIFULLY MESSED UP…
 by Jonathan Hughes
Just over two years ago, an angry comedian caught my eye – and the mood of the times – as he vented on paper.
‘They’re drilling in Alaska and what am I doing? Cleaning out my Marmite pots.’
I could relate to his frustration. I knew those same feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness.
All that changed for me in May 2006.
That was the day I had my eyes (and heart) opened to what remains probably the single most compelling story I have ever heard. more> |
Walrog - Part 7
 By Susannah
Gorlaw bent his might
Closing all his will upon
Arriving at the right time and height.
And suddenly the silence
Of the flight was broken
And he was there below her. more> |
