The Broom and the Bucket List
As I was gently sweeping human bodies into the belly of the Earth for them to be reabsorbed and reborn, it occurred to me that my conception of Death might have been somewhat prejudiced.  This ‘Death’ with his fine broom was doing little more than energetic wafting of the air about the willing rolling bodies on the ground.  Not a scythe in sight – nor any black-hooded cape. more>
If There’s Only Two Options, Always Choose the Third.
by Ya'Acov

This old Jewish saying has come to the rescue many times in my life. It speaks of a kind of patience and careful paying of attention that it has to be said, has not come naturally to me. It also speaks of the process of alchemy. When I first heard this aphorism, I loved it. Sometimes, someone says something that tickles the truth bone inside us.

Us and Them!

In our work we talk and practice dances of unity and of freedom, individual responsibility and inter-connectedness, diversity and commonality. Recently I’ve been recognising how important these themes are for our times, and how strong the pull is to separate into “us” and “them” and the inner pressure to conform to what we/I think is required to belong to “us”.

IF SOMEONE CRIED IN HEAVEN
By N F

If you cried in heaven, everyone would laugh for they would know you were just kidding.

(Sv. Catherine of Siena)

When we decide to do the right thing it seems that the impossible tends to become possible.

But I had no idea that Alchemy of Stillness could be the right workshop for me at the time I found it on the web.

I wanted to do some deeper work with emotions and there it was – Alchemy. I`ve never heard of it before, I didn`t know much about Ya`Acov`s work, I was not really a fan of rituals and I didn`t have enough money for the whole project. I was absolutely sure just about two things: my body loves to dance and I love to dive deep into myself while moving. Quite enough for a start.

A Good Suggestion
By Sue Cohen

I love to read the SOMM newsletter and one suggestion I have would make reading it even more wonderful.

The newsletter is something I want to have on paper, and so be able to

curl up with on the sofa with tea to be able to feel inspiration from the stories and think of the new courses I could attend that are so wonderful.

Welcome to Bern
By Katriona Forrester

I have lived within easy reach of Bern for more than 20 years now, and I’m sure it must be one of Europe’s most lovely cities. (This not only my opinion, as the city is designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.) I love walking through the old city streets, the elegant arches of the shopping arcades, coming across antique fountains, which have poured fresh drinking water into the city for centuries. It’s a small enough city to walk anywhere in 20 minutes, though it is well served with trams and buses too.

Age of Stupid
by Susannah

It is the year 2055. The earth is flooded, most species extinct, the life that survives struggles in harsh conditions. A man has built an archive of life on earth and is looking back to 2007 and asks, “What were we thinking? We had all the information; we had many of the technological solutions. Why didn’t we save ourselves?”

by Frazer Reid

Hello all
I took over from Kay at Second Wave Productions late last year, so if you order any of our wonderful music etc. I’m the chap who’ll be sending it to you.  I was very busy with orders before Christmas but was rather surprised one day in January, when I checked my emails and was kindly offered 10 or so ways of increasing the size of my erectile tissue but alas no orders…!

The Walrog - Part 4
By Susannah

(for part 1 go to Walrog (Part 1)
(for part 2 go to Walrog (Part 2)
(for part 3 go to Walrog (Part 3)

And once a Walrog, ever a Walrog, or so it seemed.

Aramai tried her best to wake me from my awful dream,

But failing, in the end withdrew,

to live her life

among the rocks and the sea slew,
